Camping at Silver Lake

This was our church's second annual camping trip. This year we went to Maple Falls/Silver Lake. Many church friends and my family.

The weather was not great...rained all day on Saturday but our spirits were still high. There were lots of laughs and fun.

Carter spent most of his time biking around with Davey. He also enjoyed finding caterpillars.

Chloe spent her time visiting each camp site. And riding on a pretend zipline in the trees.

Unfortunately, I realized when I got home I didn't have a lot of great pics:( Probably b/c of the rain.

4th of July

We went to the parade in the morning. The kids had a great time of course. What kid doesn't love people throwing candy at them. It does make me think why do they usually throw hard candy to children at a parade...when small children should not have hard candy...choking hazard. It is a little bizarre to me.

In the afternoon we went to a BBQ. The kids had a great time running around and riding bikes. It was especially nice for Carter because it was mostly all boys...so rare for him because he is usually around all girls.

Making strawberry muffins with fresh strawbwrries

Up late making muffins from the strawberries we picked. We will bring them to church tomorrow to share. Hope they turn out! Trying a new recipe.

Fresh Strawberry Muffins

1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour
2 tsps baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups chopped strawberries
3 tsps sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and mix well.

Sift flour, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl. Add flour mixture and milk alternately to butter mixture. Add vanilla. Gently stir in strawberries.

Spoon batter into muffin pans.

Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over muffins.

Bake at 400º for 20-25 minutes.

Makes one dozen muffins.

Strawberry Picking

Our family LOVES picking strawberries. When we got to the strawberry fields Chloe said, "this is the best day ever!". Carter gave me a big hug and kiss. They LOVE it! We picked way too many strawberries but had a great time doing it. This is one activity where they are quiet and not fighting:)

Of course we ended the picking with some yummy ice cream!
